SANDY — A Sandy woman who couldn't have children has since become a mother for 21 children.

Mary Beth Clark discovered that she was infertile after she got married. However, she didn't let that stop her from having children.

"I've never given birth," Clark said. "I've never even been pregnant. I'm infertile."

When she and her husband were married nine months, they were asked to take care of a six-year-old Vietnamese boy. They decided to keep him, and continued to open their home to other children throughout the years that needed homes.

Clark is a teacher and also works on the Utah State Board of Education. Despite raising so many children, she said she doesn't consider herself an expert. However, she does offer advice to new mothers.

"The only thing that's the end of the world is the end of the world," Clark said.

Along with mothering 21 children, Clark was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, but it went into remission.
