SALT LAKE CITY — It is in one word, humbling.

For Utah football fans it should be another word, motivating.

Phil Steele released his 2013 Preseason All-Pac-12 Team and the first offensive Ute player to appear is wide receiver Kenneth Scott, on the 4th team.

Some local offensive names that did appear on the 1st and 2nd team are Xavier Su'a-Filo of UCLA and John Martinez respectively.

The defensive side of the ball is better with Brian Blechen being chosen as a linebacker on the 2nd team. Trevor Reilly was also chosen on the 3rd team with Eric Rowe on the 4th.

Tom Hackett was also honored as the 4th team punter for the Utes.

Life continues to be an uphill grind for the Utes in the PAC-12. There were always players littered up and down 1st and 2nd team preseason selections while back in the Mountain West Conference. After having a couple consecutive years of expectations from outside, now it is clear there are no expectations to deal with but their own.

#Poll

Does Steele have it right? Should there be more Utes on the preseason teams? Should there be less?

Either way this ought to be plenty of motivation individually and collectively for a team ready to get back to winning bowl games.
