BLUFFDALE — A truck carrying whey overturned in an industrial area of Bluffdale Wednesday, spilling the milk byproduct, as well as oil and gas, over the road.

A unified officer came across the leaking and overturned semi-truck at about 11:00 a.m., according to Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal.

The officer contacted Unified Fire, who sent a hazardous materials unit to begin containing the fuel and oil, Hoyal said.

The truck was making a left turn from SR 85 onto Porter Rockwell Blvd. when the trailer hauling the whey began swaying back and forth, according to witnesses speaking to police. The trailer lost control and rolled onto its side.

Speed does not seem to be a factor in the accident. Investigators are trying to determine if a mechanical problem caused the roll.

The driver was not injured in the accident.
