SALT LAKE CITY — A man is facing second-degree felony theft charges for allegedly stealing a bronze sculpture of a quail from a city park and leaving it at the site of a party.
Cody Collins Adams, 23, is charged with taking the sculpture from Davis Park, 900 S. 200 East, on Dec. 1, according to charges filed Wednesday in 3rd District Court. Adams and two other people carried the quail to a party at 1934 E. Sunnyside Ave., leaving the bird in the backyard, charges state.
The bronze statue is worth aproximately $15,000, according to the charges.
Neighbors who spotted the statue called police on Dec. 3. Residents at the home told police they had received a message on Facebook from Adams the morning after the party informing them the statue was in their yard.
