ST. GEORGE — A 1300 acre fire is burning brush and cheatgrass on the Shivwits reservation in Southern Utah and BLM land.

Officials say the fire was caused by lightning on BLM administered land and proceeded to move to the reservation. They said Highway 91 could be subject to intermittent closures due to the fire.

The fire is burning actively and "various firefighting resources from the Color Country Interagency Fire Management Team are on scene and responding," according to a release from the team.

There are currently no injuries, and no evacuations are in place.

The fire, interestingly dubbed the OMG Fire, is not named after the common internet phrase, but rather the OMG Plant, a gold mining mill near Old Highway 91.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
