SPOKANE, Wash. - If you drove down a certain street in Spokane, Wash., on Saturday morning, you might have done a double take.

A kid, standing in his driveway, holding a strange sign.

"Nothing (is) working," Talesha Roberson said.

His mom thought she might try something a little different.

"He has to stand out here all day today," Roberson said. "He's going to come in in about an hour and eat breakfast, but he has to come back out here."

His scarlet letter was put on him because he stole an iPod from a kid at school.

"We're tired of going through him stealing, and it's just been a continuous process," she said.

It's not the first time the parents have caught the 14-year-old thieving, and it's a process that Talesha wants to stop.

Not everyone thinks she's doing this the right way, but it's a lesson Talesha hopes will stick.

"I don't care about the comments," she said. "It's not about everybody else; it's about him learning that stealing (is) not right, at all."

"Look at his face. I think it'll work," she said.
