SALT LAKE CITY — It's not all that easy to keep up with Utah football recruiting these days. With letter-of-intent day less than two weeks away, Ute coaches are making a strong late push — and gathering in some pretty impressive talent.

Following last weekend, Ute coaches have committed Brian Allen (Utes had Greg Allen committed as well, but he has since switched to Kansas). In just short of a week's time, they've accumulated three more commits with more likely on the way.

Early last week, Utah was able to secure the commitment of three-star linebacker prospect ReShawn Hooker. Hooker rested on the Utes over programs such as Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State and UCLA.

Hooker is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect from Fontana, Calif., who is expected to play outside linebacker while at Utah.

Around the same time that Hooker's commit came in, Utah received an oral commitment from Reginald Porter. Porter is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound athlete, who is expected to play cornerback while at the U.

"The academics, the defense they run, they got a whole bunch of good people out there," said Porter to utezone.com following his commit.

Porter is from Amite, La., and held offers from Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe.

The Ute's latest commit comes from tight-end prospect Mia Valoaga. "The team atmosphere is like a family. A lot of them were real close," said the 6-foot-6, 210-pound prospect to utezone.com. "They really have fun with each other. After the trip I felt more comfortable with the coaches and the surroundings in Utah."

Voloaga had offers from UNLV, Idaho and Hawaii and hails from Oxnard, Calif.
