SALT LAKE CITY -- People with autism often see, feel and hear the world differently.

They may have difficulty communicating, but they can have profound insights in other areas. Some people with autism have shown amazing creative talent.

A new book called "Artism: The Art of Autism" offers a glimpse at some of the artwork that people with autism have created. The book features a Utah resident with autism, 23-year-old Ben Diez.

He and his father Al Diez told KSL Monday morning that it can take anywhere from a couple of minutes to six to 10 hours to create each piece of artwork.

They believe autism has been a gift that allowed Ben to excel in art. Al said, "Having so few successes in his life because of his disability, this has been a tremendous boost to his morale and ego."
