ALPINE -- The allegations of child sex abuse against the father of The 5 Browns are for crimes allegedly committed against his daughters, according to the group's spokesman.
Kimball A. Thomson confirmed in an e-mail to the Deseret News Wednesday that Keith Brown was "charged with sexual abuse involving his daughters," who are now adults.
"They are currently cooperating with local law enforcement and the Utah County prosecutor's office. No further comment will be made at this time by any of The 5 Browns or their spouses regarding this pending criminal case," Thomson said.
Keith Brown and his wife, Lisa, remained hospitalized Wednesday following a crash in Little Cottonwood Canyon in which their vehicle plummeted about 500 feet off the main road into Little Cottonwood Creek.
It took rescuers more than two hours to locate the Browns and carry them to waiting medical helicopters.
Brown, 55, was charged in 4th District Court on Feb. 10 with one count of sodomy on a child, a first-degree felony, and two counts of sex abuse of a child, a second-degree felony.

Police have been working on the case for several months, and the resulting charges are part of an agreement Brown was expected to plead to on Thursday, according to a source familiar with the investigation. That hearing was postponed.
Court documents state the sodomy charge stems from incidents that allegedly occurred between November 1990 and October 1992. One sexual abuse of a child charge has a date range between November 1990 and November 1992, while the other sexual abuse charge includes the time period from March 1997 to March 1998.
Thomson said the piano playing siblings would fulfill their full touring schedule and no shows would be canceled due to the recent charges coming to light.
The Brown women severed their professional relationship with Keith Brown in October of 2008. He was once the manager of The 5 Browns but now has no connection, Thomson said.
