Candidate Questionnaire: Dave Glissmeyer (U)1. What is your top priority for the United States?JUMPSTART THE ECONOMY AND GET AMERICANS BACK TO WORK!

  1. Describe your solution to the U.S. illegal immigration problem. What specifically should be done about the over 10-million illegal immigrants who are now in the United States? Do you favor or oppose some kind of pathway to legal status for the current illegal immigrants? Stop the problem at its source by controlling our borders and seriously penalize employers who use illegal labor to maximize their own profits. Clamping down on employers will alone solve over half the problem. Do you favor or oppose some kind of pathway to legal status for the current illegal immigrants? Provide a clear, easy-to-understand path to citizenship to include only those who have a track record of being a productive, tax-paying members of U.S. society.
  2. Do you support the Affordable Care Act (health care reform)? If not, how would you fix America's health care crisis? I support the Affordable Care Act in part, but it needs much greater emphasis on controlling costs and making citizens accountable for staying healthy. Citizen who are conscientious about their health deserve to be rewarded in some fashion, including a quicker path to treatment (a slow path to treatment is a common complaint in countries where healthcare is nationalized). Citizens will not mind being held accountable IF their leaders are part of the same plan. No perks for ANY government employee with the exception of active combat military personnel.
  3. What can be done to improve the U.S. economy?Increase taxes on the top bracket for both regular income and capital dividends, leaving cap gains alone. Provide tax credits to small businesses that hire new workers. Reduce the FEE charged by the SBA for loans and streamline the loan process. Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy, and need we to offer them as much assistance as possible.
  4. Utah is famous for its beautiful landscapes. What will you do to protect and promote these areas? Promote Utah tourism and protect our remaining wild country.
  5. What are your views on federal funding for embryonic and adult stem cell research? I support medical advancement in this area. If this is a sideways method of asking "am I pro-life or pro-choice", I simply say that the Federal Government has no business meddling in the personal lives/choices of its citizens. Personal freedom is what defines America, and most legislation that has been passed in these areas has been backed, sponsored and supported by special interests, not by individual citizens.
  6. Are you willing to work with members of other political parties to accomplish changes in Washington? Without question, no party, especially the two that "rule", has a monopoly on common sense or good ideas. Some people may be benefiting from the current gridlock in Washington D.C., but it isn't everyday Americans or our children or grandchildren. We absolutely need to elect leaders who are willing to find some common ground for addressing our national problems, rather than simply trying to destroy the guy across the aisle.
  7. What are your views on nuclear testing? We have done enough already, thank you.
  8. When you are forming an opinion on an issue, who do/will you ask for advice and information? The guy/gal on the street. The small business employer who is the provider of the majority of employment in our country. I'll turn a deaf ear to anyone offering a check for special consideration.
  9. What is the one personal trait/characteristic that you want voters to know about you, and why is that important in this race?I have run my small business with honesty and integrity, doing it mostly on a handshake. The fewer long contracts, the fewer lawyers (a good thing). Since I come with "no strings attached", I will work for the middle class voter, Mr. and Mrs. Average American Family. Furthermore, I will do so without any eye to getting re-elected. I will go to DC to do the best job I can for the voters, serve my term and happily go home if the voters aren't satisfied with my performance.
