Candidate Questionnaire: Farley Anderson (U)1. What is your top priority for the State of Utah?As Governor, my top priority is the return the power of the political process to the people of our state. Politics has become too much about party politics, corporations and special interests. In Utah it is legal to sell influence followed by special government favors. This is immoral and wrong and should be illegal. The other part of this equation is individual responsibility. The Laws of Nature and Nature's God can not be violated with impunity.

  1. What will you do to improve Utah's economy? Many people are having difficulty finding jobs. What are your plans to help create jobs for blue and white collar Utahns?Utah's economy will improve correspondingly with three factors: A) A reduction in the size, cost, and intrusion of government. B) Increasing self-rule and individual sovereignty C) Increasing integrity and responsibility. I will personally see to an audit of every state agency to increase these factors in Utah Government and will lead by example. The Governor's Gala, for example, will be an open charity event. I will encourage growth and innovation by making Utah the place to start up and run entrepreneurial enterprises. Small business is always the lead in job creation and job retention.
  2. What type of priority is education, including higher education, to you? What will you do to improve public schools and access to higher education?Education is high priority. Money should follow students. Parents, not the federal government, are the customers. Inspiration trumps indoctrination. Education's purpose is the discovery of one's special gifts and how to give them to the world. Higher math and science scores will follow this discovery and creation process as they realize that they are necessary tools. Teach the way we would like to be taught and much would fall into place naturally. Leave the front lines in place and evaluate all else on the basis of how it contributes to the overall goals. Education must not be an attack upon the foundation of American principles.
  3. What role should the State of Utah have in immigration reform? The most important immigration reform is simply to follow the rule of law. We have existing law that is being ignored, or worse, actively violated. The answer to illegal immigration is legal immigration. Illegal immigration creates the worst kind of a class system and raises new generations outside the rule of law, which is destructive to our republic and those left outside. We should welcome those who wish to come here legally to help build our society and culture. We should be wary of any wishing to come here with ulterior motives. The only way to discern the two is through a system of legal immigration.
  4. Do you believe the state government needs ethics reform and campaign finance reform?YES!!! Utah needs campaign reform. While Utah gets an A for fiscal responsibility, the same organizations give us a D-or F for campaign ethical standards. Our state should be better than this. It turns out to be a banner year to run our "Please don't donate to me" political campaign, focusing attention on the fact that an effective information-based campaign can be run without any campaign donations whatsoever. If people come to expect this, they will seek out the information necessary to make wise political decisions without millions of dollars shouting at them. The only way to give the political process back to the people is to take the money out of the equation.
  5. Utah is famous for its beautiful landscapes. What will you do to protect and promote these areas? The great scenic treasures of our state belong to the people of our state. There is great value in natural beauty. Wealth is the ability to use the earth's natural resources for the benefit of people. We must always be mindful of preservation balanced with all other needs.
  6. What are your views on nuclear testing?I believe in a strong defense, and that one of the most promising energy alternatives is nuclear power. Some limited testing is required in any discovery process. Utah, however, has been the recipient of gross misuse of government power in testing that ended up destroying lives. This can never be allowed to happen again.
  7. When you are forming an opinion on an issue, who do/will you ask for advice and information? The wise man has many counselors, and like picking raspberries you miss a lot of fruit if you come at it from only one direction. I like to go to those closest to the problem and those most affected, as well as those far enough away to have perspective. The answers are always out there, often outside the box, and usually the only way to gain the wisdom is diligence. The first step is to ask the questions. I also believe in a higher source of intelligence and seek wisdom from the written word as well as direct inspiration.
  8. In your opinion, what is the number one issue facing Utah's families today? What would you do as Governor to alleviate that issue? The most important issue facing Utah families is that we have forgotten the morality of where we came from. There is an inherent goodness in Americanism. This includes things like the laws of nature and nature's God, self-evident truth, the equality of all men, and the purpose for which governments are instituted among men. As Governor I would personally take every opportunity to raise the banner of liberty at every school, university, prison, function or gathering.
  9. What is the one personal trait/characteristic that you want voters to know about you, and why is that important in this race?A personal trait that I seek to cultivate is honor. I would like to be known as one who served honorably and selflessly for the good of the people of our state. I am not taking monetary campaign contributions, so nothing will not tarnish this desire. A higher standard of political morality is something to which we all can aspire.
