WEST VALLEY CITY - Shelby Stroebel, from Meridian, Idaho, secured his first Lucas Oil Modified Series—presented by LoanMart— win at Rocky Mountain Raceways on Saturday, July 26. Stroebel started in the fourth position on the outside row and quickly moved to first by lap 11. Stroebel stayed out front through several cautions and red flags, carrying the momentum through the 75-lap main to win the BILSTEIN Shocks Great Salt Lake 75.
Fast qualifier, Jason Irwin, from Albuquerque, N.M., pulled a seven car invert, putting Utah racer, Michael Hale and Calif. racer, Rich Lindgren on the front row. Hale led the first ten laps before Stroebel passed Hale on the outside for the lead. Irwin came in second, just 0.756 behind Stroebel. Dylan Cappello, from Peoria, Ariz., came in third.
Additional RMR Oval Racing Series' winners included: #43 Kevin Truscott (Hornets,) #22 Corey Walker (Figure-8 Cars,) and #44 Train Plum Crazy (Western States Equipment Figure-8 Trains,)
Racing will continue on the America First Credit Union Super Oval with the Lee's Heating & Air Conditioning Quarter Midgets on Friday, August 1 and KSL Night on Saturday, August 2, featuring Double Deckers, Winged Sprints, Comcast Super Stocks, Focus Midgets, and Jr. Stingers.
