SALT LAKE CITY — With storms assisting them, firefighters have been able to inch toward containment of several wildfires. As a result of the storms, however, in some areas flash flooding and mudslides have become a concern.
Northern Utah
Quail Fire
Crews are nearing containment of the fire in Alpine. As of Sunday, they reported 95 percent containment, with 2,220 acres burned.
Box Elder Peak remains closed.
Eastern Utah
Uinta FireSunday, fire officials reported 60 percent containment on the 11 acre fire 18 miles northwest of Neola in Duchesne County.
The Uinta Canyon Trailhead and Uinta Canyon Trail remain closed to ensure access for firefighters.
Wolf Den Fire
The nearly 17,000-acre fire was 58 percent contained as of Sunday.
Investigators say dry lightning may have caused the fire.
Church Camp Fire
The Church Camp Fire is 100 percent contained Evacuation for the area is being lifted in phases.
Saturday and Sunday, property owners were allowed back in the area, but any other visitors to the area will not be allowed in the area for a few days.
Central Utah
Clay Springs Fire
The fire in Oak City was 85 percent contained Sunday, after burning 110,000 acres.
Oak Canyon Road remains closed.
Seeley Fire
Storms have helped get the 48,000 acre fire 47 percent contained, but have also caused flash flooding and mudslides in the area.
The road block located at the junction of SR-6 and SR-96 was removed, but a road block placed at the south end of Scofield will prevent motor traffic from continuing to Clear Creek on SR-96. SR-31 and SR-264 from Fairview are not open. Evacuation remain in place for Electric Lake, Clear Creek, Cleveland Campground, Miller Flat Reservoir, Hog Flat and several youth camps.
Central Utah
Shingle Fire
Firefighters have gotten the fire in Shingle Mill Canyon in Kane County 50 percent contained. The fire has burned 8,200 acres.
Evacuation orders remain in effect for Stout Canyon subdivisions, portions of Ponderosa Village and Harris Flats subdivisions south of Highway 14.
