SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police have released a flier on their website depicting the type of vehicle that killed Brynn Barton in a hit-and run-accident on June 7, and they are offering a $6,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Police have asked the public to print 10 copies of the flier and post it around their communities, or link the department's website to their Facebook or other social networking accounts.

The goal is to spread this information as far and wide as possible in hopes that someone will come forward with information that helps us answer how Brynn Barton and this vehicle collided on June 7.

"The goal is to spread this information as far and wide as possible in hopes that someone will come forward with information that helps us answer how Brynn Barton and this vehicle collided on June 7," Salt Lake City police detective Lisa Pascadlo said on the department website.

The vehicle is described as a dark-colored, 1998-2001 Volkswagen Passat sedan, with driver's side front-end damage. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 801- 799-3000 and may remain anonymous, according to the flier.

Barton, a nurse in the maternal care unit at University Hospital, was riding her bicycle with friends near 800 East and 700 South when the accident occurred. Her friends were riding ahead of her and said they didn't hear or see Barton get hit. Neighbors at the scene told police the driver of the vehicle made no attempt to stop.

Police initially announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver, but according to Salt Lake police an additional $1,000 reward is being offered by Draper-based Christensen Law Firm.
