LOGAN, Utah (AP) - Spencer Butterfield and Jarred Shaw each scored 17 points and Shaw grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Utah State past Colorado State 57-50 Wednesday night.

Preston Medlin added 12 points for the Aggies (12-4, 2-2 Mountain West Conference). The Rams (11-7, 2-3) were led by J.J. Avila with 21 points and eight rebounds.

Utah State took a 44-34 lead with 8:29 to play when Danny Berger hit a 3-point shot from the corner. Daniel Bejarano then nailed two quick 3-pointers of his own to bring Colorado State as close as 44-40 with 7:58 remaining. Moments later, a Butterfield 3-pointer and free throw gave Utah State a 54-44 lead and the Aggies held on for the win.

Colorado State led for much of the first half, taking an 11-6 lead with 10:15 to play. Utah State took its first lead, 18-15, when Butterfield hit a 3-point shot with 3:54 in the half.
