For number 2, I picked a performance and not so much a play; not just a performance but rather a complete and utter decimation of the San Jose State offense by the Utah State defense. That's right, number 2 is the 13 sack performance by the Aggies in week 7 against the Spartans in San Jose.

Recapping Utah State football's top plays of 2012
#5
At number 5, a pair of big plays from Chuckie Keeton. In the UNLV game, Chuckie delivered a bomb to Chuck Jacobs who then made an incredible play to break away from the defender and score. #4
In the final game of the season against Idaho, Bojay Filimoeatu made a tremendous one handed pick and returned it inside the Idaho 20; then later in the half, Will Davis broke on a pass to the flat and returned it to the house for 6. #3
For the number 3 play of the year, we go back to the offense and the other big play maker for the Aggies, Kerwynn Williams. The two I chose for number 3: Kerwynn's 86 yard catch and run against Louisiana Tech and then his 86 yard run against San Jose State.

13 sacks! They had 14 through the 6 weeks previous! 13 is a great 3 game total and they did it in one game, a new school record.

What makes this play/performance so amazing is when you look at where San Jose State ended the season, in the top 25 and 11th in the nation in passing offense. Just ask BYU what their offense can do when they are clicking.

This game also vindicated Gary Andersen's decision to step down as defensive coordinator and bring in Dave Aranda. Think about how hard that must have been for Gary; a defensive guy, handing over his defense to someone else. However, it worked out. Aranda, much like Matt Wells with the offense, has taken this defensive unit to a new level this season.

Dave Noriega saw the San Jose State offense first hand when he was at the BYU game, I asked him to join me to talk about exactly how impressive the Aggies defensive performance was.

Where would you rank the 13 sack game? Tweet me @phenommatthewL.
