ATLANTA (AP) — Baby, you're a star in Georgia politics.

One ad in the rollicking GOP Senate primary there featured the contenders as crying infants. More campaign ads starring babies followed as the cacophony of seven Republican candidates rose over taxes, gay rights and more ahead of Tuesday's primary. Georgia's hotly contested Senate could help determine congressional control.

Dollar General CEO David Perdue aired an ad depicting former secretary of state Karen Handel, the only woman in the GOP race, as a baby in pearls. Another infant wore glasses like Rep. Jack Kingston. Two wore stethoscopes. Reps. Paul Broun and Phil Gingrey are doctors. Kingston and Gingrey have since aired baby ads attacking Perdue as childish and stooping to politics as usual.

Republicans must gain six seats to win control of the Senate.
