SALT LAKE CITY — Opening weekend of football has concluded and only two of the local teams escaped with a victory. Although Utah's Kaelin Clay had a great performance, the KSL sports team selected BYU's Taysom Hill as this week's Player of the Week.

Player of the Week:

Taysom Hill, QB, BYU

Hill was responsible for a career-high five touchdowns in BYU's season-opening 35-10 win at Connecticut. Hill completed 28 of 36 passes for a game-high 308 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing 12 times for a game-high 97 yards and two scores. Hill's pass-efficiency rating of 177.1 represents the best single-game mark of his career.

Honorable Mentions:

Kaelin Clay, WR, Utah

The phrase "incredible weekend performances" and the name Kaelin Clay go hand-in-hand this week as Clay was spectacular for the Utes, returning a 46-yard punt return to the house, only to be followed with a 100-yard kickoff return for touchdown later in the Utes 56-14 win over Idaho State. Clay is the first Pac-12 player to have a punt and kickoff return for a touchdown in a game since Cal's Deltha O'Neal accomplished the feat in 1999.

Zach Smith, RB, Weber State

Zach Smith rushed for a career-high 128 yards and one touchdown against Arizona State.
