SALT LAKE CITY — You could hear the ooohs and ahhhs from every corner of the field. Travis Wilson dropped back, threw a dart over the middle when a window opened up for Quinton Pedroza after "Q" had burned the defense with the post and BAM!

Eric Rowe, Utah's junior safety was standing at the goal line a walloped Pedroza.

"It's starting to get real physical out there. It's starting to get more competitive." Rowe said. "It's just a huge buildup. Everybody's hyped up ready to hit. The one time they came my way I made an opportunity out of it."

The hit would likely get a penalty in a real game, but it was sure nice to see some hitting.

The impressive part of the day came from the quarterback position. On Thursday, after a day of install on the offensive side of the ball, the quarterbacks struggled getting the ball out and making some quick decisions. Saturday it was very different.

"Things are coming together, we're playing at a very fast pace. I thought the quarterbacks were outstanding. We've got to catch the football better, there were some dropped balls out there today but other than that I'm really happy with where we are at."

Erickson is right about the receivers. They dropped a lot of balls today. Blame it on the weather, blame it on whatever you want, the receiving corps needs to catch the ball. Travis Wilson and Adam Schultz were accurate today.

The defense is replacing six starters including both corner positions that will be filled by new players.

Keith McGill and Justin Thomas were playing with the "ones" today and probably will into the future.

Head Coach Kyle Whittingham loves the idea of McGill on the outside with all of the big receivers in the PAC12. On the other side, Justin Thomas passes the eye test. He is not as big but he just looks like a corner in every way.
