SALT LAKE CITY — The Pac-12 conference released the 2013 football schedule and there are a few storylines that immediately come to mind.

The Utes have seven home games beginning with their first three games against Utah State (8/29), Weber State (9/7), and opening the Pac-12 slate against Oregon State (9/14) before they leave Rice-Eccles Stadium.

The next storyline sounds a little SEC-like as the Utes will not even leave the state of Utah until midway through October. On the 19th they finally leave to head down to Tucson to play the Wildcats. Utah will play at BYU on September 21st in Provo followed by their first bye week of the 2013 season.

As you can imagine by the first two storylines, the third is the most unfortunate draw for Utah as they hit the road in October and finish their final four of six games on the road, including trips to Tucson, Southern Cal, Autzen Stadium in Oregon followed by Washington State.

The Utes finish with Colorado on November 30 in Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Missing from the schedule for the first time are Cal and Washington but the schedule gets stronger by adding two teams that won BCS games in 2012 in powerhouses Oregon and Stanford.

This is the reality of football for the Utes. Even with the seven home games, on paper it looks daunting.

Homecoming will be on October 12th when the Utes host Stanford.
