The GOAL Foundation is a non-profit supporting high-end recreation events in Ogden. Their focus is to brand Ogden as an outdoor mecca for all types of recreation. They help coordinate events and gather volunteers to help everything run smoothly.
One of the events they sponsored was the Zions Bank Ogden Marathon held last weekend. This year Shape Magazine recognized the event as one of the Top 5 Marathons for first-time runners. It continues to gain more traction every year with participants from 46 states, 7 countries and growing. When the USA Cycling Event comes to Ogden, they contract with the city to produce the event. Participants regularly tell Jenny they wish they had an organization like the GOAL Foundation in their town. Other events they support include the XTERRA Triathlon, the DEW Tour and the Archery World Championship held in Ogden a few years ago.
Their core audience is the greater Ogden community and anybody who loves the outdoors. Many of their volunteers fall into this category and are excited to support events happening right in their backyard. They also have connections with Weber State University, with a student on campus assigned to the organization who helps recruit volunteers. Since the organization's founding in 2001, they've had countless volunteers who have given thousands of volunteer hours.
The GOAL Foundation also offers a grant program for kids. They give out around $500 split among 20 participants that goes to their non-profit or a project they're working on. After four years of leading the organization, Jenny couldn't be more motivated with all they're accomplishing.
