Esterlee Molyneux of the Child and Family Support Center in Logan believes being a parent is one of the single biggest responsibilities in society. She understands how it can be a challenge to navigate and believes it's important for families to have additional outside support when needed at times.
The Child and Family Support Center is a non-profit agency that works seven days a week to strengthen families and protect children, offering programs that are available to all parents and children in the community. As the Executive Director, Esterlee is the passion, leadership and guidance behind the organization, now in its 33rd year of operation. They offer parenting and children's classes, a 24-hour crisis nursery for children 11 and counseling programs. And they take their commitment to families seriously.
The Child and Family Support Center has general parenting classes where parents learn about child development and other aspects of parenting. There's also classes for children to learn more about how to interact with others, including siblings, recognize the difference between good touch and bad touch and learn about making good choices. Parents and kids are essentially learning similar skill sets, just on their own level.
Their nursery is a special setup, especially for those parents in need of immediate assistance. Because it's available 24/7, it's built for parents who may not have the resources to support themselves. And there's no charge. With her many experiences Esterlee shares a story of a mother who found out her child had cancer. So, while she was taking her child for treatments, the Child and Family Support Center went into action, taking care of her other children. And they also have resources for those serving in the military, where parents at home may need additional support.
Child and Family Support Center offers extensive counseling program for families and individually for children, teenagers, adults and couples.
