This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

If you're motivated about helping change the odds for young women in our community, this may be an event you don't want to miss. Coming up Thursday, Oct. 30, United Way of Salt Lake Women's Leadership Council are excited to host their annual Power of Your Purse event at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City.

The Power of Your Purse is the Women Leadership Council annual gala, which celebrates the power, wisdom and generosity of women. This nationwide network of 147 councils and over 60,000 women across the country has invested $1 billion in education over the past decade. Locally, United Way of Salt Lake's Women's Leadership Council is made up of 211 of our community's leading women, who invest half a million dollars annually to assist girls and young women in reaching their highest potential through education.

The United Way of Salt Lake Women's Leadership Council is a diverse representation of women taking charge by investing their time, their money and their influence in addressing complex issues head on. Every year The Power of Your Purse brings an impressive keynote speaker, and this year is no exception. Jane Pauley, journalist, author, and philanthropist will be the keynote for The Power of Your Purse. One of the most respected individuals in broadcast journalism for over 30 years will be right here in Salt Lake City on Thursday, Oct. 30, at the Grand America Hotel.

Pauley became the first woman to anchor a weekday evening newscast in Chicago. She anchored Dateline NBC for more than a decade and later hosted her own daytime program. She's a fitting keynote, as a long-time advocate for children's health and education.

Anyone is invited to join the United Way of Salt Lake Women's Leadership Council in celebrating the collective power, wisdom and generosity of women. Learn how you can take a leading role in helping girls and young women overcome incredible odds to achieve success in school and in life. For more information or to register, visit uw.org/poyp2014.
