This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Davis County is the third largest populated county in the state of Utah. And as Salt Lake County's closest neighbor to the north, they understand their important economic impact. Davis County Commissioner John Petroff says growth is on the horizon for this county as they have positioned themselves well in the development of land sites that can help push significant commercial growth.

A strategic initiative for Davis County is creating family sustaining jobs in the county, and right now they're maintaining 3 percent job growth per year. Wages are key to this growth and Davis County is the third highest county in the state for wages with a median income of just under $70,000. The county has consistently maintained an unemployment rate at or below the state rate.

Another is available building sites that are zoned and ready for development. Davis County works closely communicating frequently with the 15 cities within the county to create these land sites. They have 34 sites ready in addition to sites already under construction. Developments include: Falcon Hill and East Gate at Hill Air Force Base; Freeport and Freeport West in Clearfield; Kaysville Business Park; and further development of Farmington Station.

Station Park, the region's premier shopping destination, is located in Farmington Station. With a Frontrunner stop and a full-service Harmon's already in operation, Farmington Station is becoming a regional lifestyle center. The vision is for the mixed use development to include professional office space, residential space and high-end shopping with a brand new Hyatt Hotel opening soon.

Additionally, Davis County is known for entertainment and music. The county is home to Lagoon, which welcomes up to 1.4 million visitors per year. They also have Cherry Hill Recreation Area, Boondocks and Antelope Island. Their free summer concert series, which starts in June, fills up every week. Davis County's big push right now is their Connects You program, designed to showcase resources available to business owners looking to open or relocate to the county.
