This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Sports is not only big business, it's a big part of all of our lives. From the time you start playing catch as a kid, all the way to professional and Olympic sports, it's a huge part of our childhood, our lives and our society. Jeff Robbins, president and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission, has a vision of involving all of us in identifying our picks for all level of athletics, from high school to pro, across the state of Utah. It's called the State of Sport Awards, and voting is going on right now.

Jeff says this is one of the few fan selection processes in the U.S. right now. From Logan to St. George, the state of Utah has a long history of athletic excellence at all levels of competition. This year's awards program showcases the highest achievement in individual and team sports during the 2013 calendar year, as voted on by fans and citizens across the state of Utah.

To vote all you need to do is visit stateofsportawards.com and click the Go Vote button. This will allow you to choose your top picks in all 10 categories, from high school athletes to collegiate athletes and even coaches. Voting is restricted to one vote per device in a 24-hour period, but you can vote for your favorites daily from now through April 18. The event is growing in popularity. This year they're expecting between 75,000 and 100,000 votes.

This year's awards ceremony will be held on April 22 at the EnergySolutions Arena. Tickets and sponsorships are still available. Governor Gary Herbert will speak at the ceremony and present awards to winners in ten categories. Golf legend, designer, and philanthropist Jack Nicklaus will be a special guest, along with this year's lifetime achievement award recipients, Johnny Miller and Billy Casper.

The Utah Sports Commission is proud to support the best that Utah has to offer. For more information or to vote visit stateofsportawards.com.
