This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Education is critical for success in today's business world. That's one of the many reasons Utah business leaders came together to create a big goal - 66 percent of Utahns with a post-secondary certificate or degree by 2020. It's an initiative known as Prosperity 2020. And AmeriTech College in Draper is supporting this important business initiative.

After doing research, Ken Bentley had a deeper understanding of the serious shortage of nurses in the United States. He discovered how the Registered Nursing profession is projected to be the top occupation in terms of job growth through the next decade, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That's a lot of students to train and educate.

Ken was looking for a new business opportunity after moving to Utah with his wife. So, he thought, why not establish a program within a college dedicated to training qualified nurses and faster than traditional programs? His idea became a reality when he launched AmeriTech College in Draper in 2006.

In eight years AmeriTech College has become one of the largest providers of registered nurses in the state. One of the unique things about their program is they graduate nurses in 19 months instead of 48. They also have a 90 percent retention and placement rate for their students, especially since they have partnerships with hospitals and care facilities statewide.

AmeriTech's program is so well designed that in recent graduating classes, 100 percent of the group passed their licensing exam.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
