This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Utah's business climate has been the object of national attention for several years now. The accolades are spread across the state, and an area of focus is Ogden, which is growing into one of Northern Utah's strongest business centers.

Forbes Magazine has named Ogden as one of the top 20 Best Places for Business and Careers. The city is doing well with a metro population of just under 564,000, and Gross Metro Product — a measure of the size of the city economy — that exceeded $20 billion. This year Weber State University, located in downtown Ogden, is celebrating their 125th anniversary. It's also an important contributor to the city's economic climate.

Ogden is also receiving attention for travel and recreation. Powder Magazine recently ranked Ogden as North America's No. 2 Ski Town. Outside and National Geographic Adventure Magazine both declared Ogden as "one of the top ten best places to live."

In recognition of the city's healthy business and recreation climate, 15 of Ogden's most popular independent restaurants have teamed up to offer the Second Annual Ogden Restaurant Week. It runs from April 11 to 20 with two and three course lunch and dinner options available.

This annual event is designed to showcase some of Ogden's diverse dining options while encouraging the community to dine locally. Participating restaurants have special menus where diners can choose from some of the best they have to offer. Through the promotion, patrons can receive a fixed two-course lunch option for $8 and a three-course dinner for $15.

The restaurant industry in Utah is having unparalleled growth. Utah is the fourth fastest-growing state in terms of restaurant growth, according to the Utah Restaurant Association.

You may recognize some of the Ogden restaurant community members participating in the event: Sonora Grill, Rooster's, Tona Sushi Bar and Grill, Union Grill, Prairie Schooner Steak House, MacCool's Public House, Lucky Slice Pizzeria and many more.
