This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Park City Coffee Roaster started out as a bagelry and coffee shop, where the Hibl brothers roasted fresh coffee beans. But soon it became clear the real focus for their new business was the coffee. So, they sold the retail portion of the business and focused strictly on the wholesale side, distributing their original roasted coffees to Park City restaurants, cafes, grocery stores and some of the local ski resorts. It's so popular they recently launched an eCommerce site, pcroaster.com, for customers to take fresh Park City Coffee Roasters products home with them.

Coffee is big business in markets around the world. According to The Culturist, 100 million Americans drink coffee every day. And 60 percent of those drinkers start the day with a cup of coffee, which is one reason $18 billion is spent every year on specialty coffee. That's why when the Hibl (hibble) brothers, Rob and Ray, saw an opening in the industry 16 years ago, they decided to take it and created Park City Coffee Roaster.

Their niche in the Park City market is to offer high-quality coffees in blends not normally found in Utah. So, Rob and Ray purchase coffee directly from growers in 18 different countries, and around 75 percent of their coffee is certified organic and fair-traded. Park City Coffee Roaster is one of only two certified fair trade roasters in the state.

But, what does it mean to be an internationally certified fair trade roaster? That means their coffee buying is certified at a guaranteed price per pound which means the farmer is getting a better price for their product. It's a great way for them to build relationships and maintain equal partnerships with the coffee growers.

A huge part of what makes sets Park City Coffee Roasters apart, is their 72-hour roast point. This means all coffee they deliver was roasted and bagged no more than 72 hours previously to provide the freshest possible product from the beans roasted right in their Park City shop. And you can believe their customers love it!
