When Kelby and Kathie Iverson were growing up, they enjoyed having grandparents who were ranchers.... After they grew up, they decided to get married and raise a family together... But the love of ranching and farming was already in their blood...... So what they did was both agree to take over Kelby's mother's share of the family farm to continue the ranching tradition.. With just 2 percent of the U.S. population as farmers and ranchers, they understood the importance of agriculture and the risks involved...
They soon changed the name to reflect their devotion to family — and the land.. And that's how Western Legacy Farm and Ranch in Hurricane came to be... Soon, they realized it was time to diversify their operations .... So, about two years ago they bought an eight-acre farm in Hurricane to complete their needs ...
Today, in addition to their traditional farm work, they also offer education and experience at Western Legacy... That means they offer -horse riding lessons, plus a month-long farm camp for kids in the summertime.... There's even a Western-themed barn with activities that include a petting zoo for kids.
Western Legacy Farm and Ranch is also a full-service horse boarding facility. ...They currently board 30 horses, and people from up north will often bring their horses there for the winter...The Iversons also have around 50 chickens and in the summer, their boys get up early and take farm fresh eggs out on individual routes, delivering eggs to people in their neighborhood. You'll also find a collection of 17 pecan trees…
In the summer, Western Legacy Farm and Ranch hosts guests from all over the country... They'll stay overnight or for the weekend in a dude ranch setting, in the cabin located on the property....Meals are included...
Today, Western Legacy Farm and Ranch runs on about 15,000 acres... You're welcome to stop out and visit any time at 1600 West 160 South in Hurricane ...
