This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

When you think that 90 percent of our economy is driven by small business, it gives reason to pause. We are lucky to be in such an entrepreneurial market like Utah with our current unemployment dipping down to 5.1 percent. The job growth and creation is coming from small business, and no one understands this better than MountainWest Capital Network.

The founders and operators of the non-profit MountainWest Capital Network donate their professional time to assist our dynamic business culture in Utah by fostering business development. This Thursday, February 21, the MountainWest Capital Network will be honoring their 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year, Todd Pedersen, CEO and co-founder of Provo-based Vivint. Vivint is one of the largest home security and automation companies in North America.

Under Pederson's leadership, Vivint has grown from an innovative idea to a thriving business serving more than 700,000 customers, providing leading edge technology for home security and automation. The company has over 3,200 employees and operates in most U.S. states and in Canada with business offices in Provo; South St. Paul, Minn.; and Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

MountainWest Capital Network is Utah's first and largest business networking organization and promotes this annual program by selecting an outstanding entrepreneur to honor every year. This person is chosen based on factors that include supporting their community, leading by example and having a significant impact on the local economy and beyond. The MountainWest Capital Network is an organization with some of the best business minds in Utah who are giving back to their community. They assist entrepreneurs with anything from networking with the best business service providers and sources of capital to finding the best business practices.

In addition to Entrepreneur of the Year, MountainWest Capital Network also sponsors the annual Utah 100 Awards Program in the fall and the Utah Deal Flow report. For more information on MountainWest Capital Network, visit mwcn.org.

Once again congratulations to the 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year, Todd Pedersen of Vivint.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
