Fourteen years ago, John Tebbs set out to fill a niche in the construction and design industry that he saw lacking ... Soon others joined him, and Bonneville Builders in Salt Lake City began to grow. Today this is a design/build construction firm focusing on constructing facilities for private businesses and real estate developments. This includes office, retail, light industrial, health care, data centers and multi-family construction.
One of the keys to the success of Bonneville Builders is their philosophy. They know it's not enough to budget to a design — it's more important to design to a budget. Bonneville Builders now proudly counts 25 employees and has completed projects like the Sandy Technology Park or Overlake Medical Plaza in Tooele. This team is so educated that all managers have at least a bachelor's degree in business. Many also have their MBAs.
Their website is a unique design, with an education center that's accessible 24/7, which is becoming the norm for communication expectation..... They're always trying to provide information that will be beneficial for anyone considering a construction project at any time. It includes resources for everyone, not just their customers.
And their community outreach goes far beyond their walls. For example, they recently provided a computer lab and rec center with weight training for Native American kids. This is something the kids might never have experienced had it not been for Bonneville Builders.
And their innovative approach to business is the reason they now have a Fast Track division focusing on smaller projects with the same level of service. This requires an understanding of how to maintain quality, price and speed. Bonneville Builders used the model to complete a major data center in just two and a half months. The future is one project Bonneville Builders is attacking every day by being lean, smart, involved and progressive. Another great example of Utah innovation.
