OGDEN — No. 4 Roy defeated Springville 59-46 to advance to the 4A quarterfinals.

A close contest in the first 16 minutes, Springville led Roy by two at the half, but an excellent defensive third quarter by Roy held Springville to just five points and Roy would lead by 11 heading into the fourth quarter where they would hold on for the victory.

Roy was led by junior Brekkott Chapman who put up a 16 point and 11 rebound double-double to lead all scorers and rebounders. Chapman almost had a triple-double as he registered seven blocks, with the lone blight on his night coming from a 5-for-14 night from the free-throw line.

The Royals backcourt of Jesse Wayment and David Hadley had a tough shooting night hitting 8 of 22 shots, but did score 14 and 13 points respectively.

Springville's senior guard Bradley Kitchen was shut down by Roy's defense making just 4 of his 21 shots. As a team Springville shot 22% for the game.

No. 4 Roy will play No. 2 Bountiful on Thursday in the 12:40 p.m. quarterfinal game.
