OGDEN — Faimafili Laulu-Pututau scored 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds as Mountain Crest took care of Maple Mountain 57-40 in the first round of the 4A state playoffs. The Golden Eagles simply had no answer for the 6'5 senior who shot 69 percent from the field.

Tyler Crosbie added 14 points for the Mustangs including 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals. Mountain Crest shot 46 percent as a team and outscored Maple Mountain 32-14 in the paint.

The Golden Eagles could never get anything going offensively, they were held to just 22 percent from the field, only making 9 field goals the entire game. Josh Phelps led the team with 11 points while Thomas Mortenson brought down 13 rebounds.

Mountain Crest won Region 5 this season with a 9-1 record, they will play Herriman on Thursday, tip-off will be at 2:30.
