I got with BYU's all-conference tackle Matt Reynolds for a one-on-one interview here at Media Days, an interview in which he revealed that his position on the line will depend on which BYU quarterback gets the nod as the starter.

Reynolds says he'll stay at his traditional left tackle spot if right-hander Jake Heaps starts behind center, and switch to right tackle is southpaw Riley Nelson is named the starter.

Reynolds says he has played left tackle throughout his entire high school and college career, but that he played some on the right side during spring ball, adding "I don't see it being too big of a hurdle."

He notes that left guard Braden Hansen would likely stay on the left side no matter which QB is chosen.

Other highlights from Reynolds:

-he's "really comfortable" with this year's offensive line depth. By contrast, he says last year's depth situation was "scary," but ended up "not being a problem at all."

-on the quarterback battle: "(Heaps and Nelson) have really been pretty neck-and-neck. I'm interested to see who starts to pull away come fall camp. Someone's is going to have to step up and separate himself from the other. My role is to be the best offensive lineman I can be, whether that means on the right side or the left side."

-on the O-line as leaders: "It's maybe not as vocal a strength, but it gives the other guys confidence to see us, play in and play out, doing our job, being there in the huddle saying 'come what may, we're going to do our best.' I think that's a huge strength."

-on this year's team: "We've got the potential to be not only the best in the conference but one of the best in the country. This team can be as good as we want it to be."

-on a future in the NFL: "i think the NFL is a dream of every football player; I think it's something everybody should shoot for, and that's no different for me. I've dreamed since I was a kid of playing the NFL.

-on exploring the possibility of the NFL after this season: "If the opportunity presents itself, and I feel I'm ready for it, I think anybody would."

-on BYU's third-place preseason poll placement: "In our locker room, we picture ourselves as first every year."
