Nomination letter sent in by Susan Withers:

This is my mom and she has been the best mom through thick and thin. She started as my Girl Scout leader when I was in 1st grade. Mind you that was 43 years ago. She has been a Brownie/ Daisy leader, non-stop, for 38 years now. At times she took on an additional troop for the older girls, when she was needed.

In addition, she volunteers many hours at the VA hospital in SLC. She sells popcorn and homemade afghans every other Friday in the lobby to raise money for things the hospital needs. Through her efforts, the VA hospital has purchased a parking lot hut/cover for the wheelchairs and televisions for hospital rooms. She has served in the Women’s Auxiliary at the VFW, supporting our troops and Veterans, in every position possible, from guard to Department President and Chaplain. She recently retired from HAFB after many years and several different positions, earning service awards along the way. She has dedicated her life to her children and the service of others and for this, I would love to give her a Big, High 5!!
