I adopted a 9 year old a year ago. He was always in Special ed behavior classes. When we moved to Eureka he started into a regular classroom. This year he is in fourth grade. Marlon is his name. He never had very much formal training in reading nor math. Mrs Wilbanks worked with him, encouraged him and saw Marlon as a great achiever. Marlon never talked to any adults. Ms. Wilbanks got him to talk and communicate with all the adults in the school.

Marlon is now testing highest in his class in reading and no longer goes to Special Ed classes for Math. He is able to do math with Ms. Wilbanks and with his classmates.

Parent teacher conferences as I attend each on is full of love and caring. Even when there are challenges with Marlon, Ms, Wilbanks knows how to solve them and to keep Marlon's confidence so he will not give up.

Two years ago Marlon could not read, write, or do math. He would not listen to anyone. Because of Ms. Wilbanks he is a new boy and is loving school and learning. With out her help and her teaching experience he would not be the student he is today.
