The state legislature’s Prison Relocation Commission wants to move the state prison out of Draper, even though no city appears willing to build a new facility.
Residents and leaders of Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs, among other cities, have said a prison will waste prime real estate.
That’s exactly what Draper leaders have said, as has state Rep. Brad Wilson (R-Kaysville), co-chairman of the commission and president and CEO of Destination Homes.
Wilson broke down the numbers on Utah’s Morning News with Grant Nielsen and Amanda Dickson, although he couldn’t name any community willing to host a new prison.
