SALT LAKE CITY — We all know a person who uses their phone at inappropriate times.
This month is national cell phone courtesy month and etiquette blogger Janine Ottley from The Pink Teapot has some tips for phone users.
- Love the one you're with. When you're face-to-face with one person, pay attention to them. Unless the phone call is important (kids, babysitter, etc.) let it go to voicemail.
- No texting while driving. It's illegal and dangerous.
- Mind your surroundings. If you're in public, keep your voice quiet, private conversations to yourself and be sure your language wouldn't offend another person.
- Don't make others wait for you. If you're in a store and in the check out line, finish your phone call before it's your turn.
- Private time is private. Phone calls while using the bathroom is a discourtesy to others using the bathroom and the person on the other time. If someone calls, let it go to voicemail and call them back once you're finished.
