SALT LAKE CITY — As if you didn't have enough reason to hate (or actually just love) the Manning brothers, they come out with a commercial that you can't help but fall in love with.
Their newest commercial for DirecTV's NFL Sunday ticket features Peyton and Eli Manning selling a product, and they're rapping about it in the video titled "Football on your Phone."
First and foremost, check out their hair. Second, check out their hair. Eli's sweet curls and Peyton's mullet mixed with Justin Bieber-esq frock. Eli is also sporting an earring.
The video and lyrics are very close to the Golf Boys videos and have a touch of Lonely Island influences. It is the new absurdly weird combinations of metaphors. There is even an Archie Manning appearance in an Elvis jumpsuit.
The big question from this is really what would Alexander Graham Bell do if he saw you watching football on your phone?
Trey Burke getting posterized
The preseason hasn't even started yet and Trey Burke is already getting dunked on. At the rookie symposium, Indiana alums Victor Oladipo and Cody Zeller decide to go around and show the other rookies who was boss.
One rookie the Utah Jazz fans will be saddened about getting posterized is rookie point guard Trey Burke. The poor guy was just dribbling under the basket and Oladipo dunked right on top of him.
Oh, did I mention that they used a trash can and mini-basketball?
That might make a difference, but still it's still pretty cool. They dunk on just about everyone, but the highlight is over Burke. Oladipo walks over and says he going to jump in on the photo shoot, then Zeller walks up with the mini trashcan hoop. Oladipo goes over the back and dunks on the young Burke from behind. It's just good clean fun.
Probably the worst throw you will ever see
Raul Ibanez has been playing in MLB for almost two full decades. The outfielder playing for the Seattle Mariners has been having a pretty good season. He has 24 home runs and is still playing outfield at 41, which is pretty amazing.
What isn't amazing is this video. Well, to be more specific, the throw in the video.
Ibanez made a play on a single to left, and then to use a second Lonely Island mention, he "threw it on the ground."
Sometimes we just have to be reminded that professional athletes are still just people and can make mistakes. Also, we need to remember that it's not just that one kid who plays right field for your co-ed softball team, you know the one who is only on the team because the guy who started the team is his cousin, who makes bad throws.
