In the early minutes of the second quarter of Tuesday's Jazz-Suns game, both Enes Kanter and Hamed Haddadi dove for a loose ball. On the ground, Kanter's left arm was wrapped around the basketball and Haddadi landed on Kanter, separating his shoulder.
Originally, the injury was thought to be the less serious subluxation (where the joint pops out, but goes back into place on its own), but the shoulder was dislocated and medical personnel had to help return the joint to place.
In the locker room after the game, Kanter's arm was in a sling.
Rod Zundel told him that the injury didn't look good and Kanter replied "I'm alright man! I'm fine. I just fell on the floor and the guy fell on me."
When Kanter got up off the floor to head for the locker room he noticed the bone poking out of his shoulder. "I could not open my arm and I saw my shoulder and said 'Oh my!' I do not feel any pain right now but I will have an MRI tomorrow," Kanter said.
Zundel then told Enes that the girls would have sympathy on his injured shoulder and he quickly replied, "They have already texted me!"
Of course he said that with a huge grin on his face, the grin only Enes Kanter can produce, even though he doesn't know when he will play again.

UPDATED:
According to the Jazz Kanter will undergo surgery on Wednesday, April 10 in Chicago. Dr. Guido Marra will perform the surgery and the second-year big man will miss the remainder of the season. His exact return-to-activity timetable will be determined after the surgery.
