TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Junior Itou scored 23 points and Sterling Taplin had 13 points, nine assists and six rebounds to lead Tulsa to a 74-66 win over East Carolina on Sunday.

Corey Henderson had 14 points and Martins Igbanu 10 with eight rebounds for the Golden Hurricanes (14-14, 8-8 American), who hit 12 of 22 3-pointers and 14 of 16 free throws.

Itou and Henderson each hit four from long distance. Itou had a trey and a layup and TK Edogi a 3-point play for an 8-0 run in the middle of the second half that gave Tulsa a 57-47 lead. Andre Washington answered with a 3-point play for the Pirates but Itou made two free throws on the next possession and East Carolina never got closer than seven.

Caleb White had 20 points for the Pirates (13-16, 5-11) to become the fifth player in school history to reach 1,500. Kentrell Barkley added 19.
