BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Preston Parks scored a career-high 37 points and hauled in eight rebounds Saturday night to lead The Citadel to a 102-96 win over Samford that snapped an 11-game losing skid.

Parks was 13 for 22 from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers, and sank 9 of 11 from the line to tally his third game with at least 30 points.

Ezekiel Balogun added 21 points, Zane Najdawi had 16 and Matt Frierson 12 for The Citadel, which shot 55 percent from the field and was 26 of 34 from the free-throw line.

The Citadel (10-20, 3-14 Southern Conference) took the lead for good with a 6-0 spurt capped with Parks' layup to make it 60-57 with 14:25 to play, and later pulled away with an 11-2 run sparked by Frierson's 3.

Alex Thompson got a career-high 35 points to lead Samford (17-13, 8-9), Demetrius Denzel-Dyson added 30 points, Christen Cunningham had 12 and Wyatt Walker collected 10 rebounds.
