TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Jermaine Marrow scored a career-high 31 points and Hampton held off Florida A&M for a 76-69 win Monday night.

Lysander Bracey added 11 points and Lawrence Cooks grabbed eight rebounds for Hampton (12-14, 9-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), which never trailed but had to hold off the Rattlers in the second half.

Florida A&M (7-20, 5-9) got a 3-pointer from Justin Ravenel, followed by a 3-point play from Nasir Core to trim the gap to 40-37 with 16:11 to play but that was as close as it got the rest of the way.

Akim Mitchell stretched the advantage back to five with a jumper that sparked an 8-0 burst and the Pirates twice extended their lead to 17 before FAMU closed out with a 14-4 run that brought the final margin back to single digits.

Desmond Williams led the Rattlers with 16 points and Ravenel and Elijah Mays both finished with 11.
