UTEP beats Texas-San Antonio 59-39 for 3rd straight win

EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Paul Thomas had 12 points with 13 rebounds as UTEP rolled to its third-straight win, beating Texas-San Antonio 59-39 on Saturday night.

Omega Harris added 16 points and Jake Flaggert chipped in 11.

UTEP (5-13, 3-3 Conference USA) had dropped 12 straight before winning back-to-back games for the first time this season. Those victories were hard work as they beat Florida International 88-87 in double overtime and followed with a 66-65 extra period win over Florida Atlantic.

UTSA won the first meeting between the teams, beating the Miners 67-55.

UTEP dominated this one, sprinting to a 39-21 halftime advantage. They were up 51-29 midway of the second period and coasted to the win.

Dominic Artis, who finished with nine points, hit the 1,000 mark for points in his career.

Giovanni De Nicolao had eight points and Jeff Beverly grabbed 10 rebounds for UTSA (9-10, 4-2).
