LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Ian Baker matched a career-best with 26 points and New Mexico State beat New Mexico 84-71 on Saturday night for its sixth straight win.
The Aggies (8-2) improve to 7-0 at home — 16-0 dating to last season — and bounced back from a 72-59 loss at New Mexico on Nov. 18.
Baker was 8 of 16 from the floor and made four 3-pointers. Jemerrio Jones scored 15 points and had 10 rebounds, and Braxton Huggins made four 3-point shots and finished with 14 points before fouling out midway through the second half. Eli Chuha grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds and chipped in 12 points for the Aggies.
Elijah Brown scored 18 points to lead New Mexico (6-4). Tim Williams added 15 points.
The Aggies built a 17-point halftime lead and never trailed. The Lobos pulled to 66-59 with about seven minutes left but didn't get closer.
