NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — JeQuan Lewis scored nine straight points to put Virginia Commonwealth in the lead with under five minutes to play and the Rams held on to beat Old Dominion, 67-64 on Saturday night.

Trailing by four, 55-51, Lewis drilled a 3-pointer and drew the foul. He converted the free throw to tie the game at 55-55. After Brandan Stith gave Old Dominion the lead again with a free throw, 56-55, Lewis got to the basket for a layup for the one-point VCU lead. For good measure he knocked down a 3-pointer with 4:36 left to make it 60-56.

Lewis finished with 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, including 5 of 8 from beyond the arc. Collectively VCU (7-3) was 24 of 52 from the field and 6 of 15 from distance.

B.J. Stith and Ahmad Caver finished with 17 and 16 points, respectively, for the Monarchs (5-4).
