WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) — Cody Williams found Reggie White Jr. alone in the end zone for a two-point conversion and a 42-41 Monmouth overtime victory over Fordham on Saturday.
Chase Edmonds scored his fourth touchdown of the day to give Fordham (2-2) the lead to begin overtime before Ed Royds scored for the Hawks (3-2) and set up the game-winning conversion.
Williams threw touchdown passes of 72 and 18 yards to White, and Royds scored from 9 yards out as Monmouth rallied to lead 34-27 with 5:03 remaining. Edmonds ran 55 yards to tie with 2:14 left.
The Rams missed a 47-yard field goal as time expired in regulation.
Edmonds finished with 208 yards on 25 carries, including a 77-yarder for the game's first score though the PAT was blocked. The junior has 51 career touchdowns, a school record.
White caught 10 passes for 167 yards, including both of Williams' TD passes. Royds added 100 yards on 19 carries with two touchdowns.
