MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Running back Jamarius Henderson is leaving Memphis' football program.
Coach Mike Norvell announced Monday in a news release that "due to a family situation, (Henderson) will be granted a release in order to be closer to his son." Norvell added that "we wish him all the best in his future."
Henderson, who is from Midland City, Alabama, rushed for 320 yards and four touchdowns on 60 carries as a freshman last season. He also caught seven passes for 90 yards and two more scores.
Henderson isn't the only running back that Memphis has lost during the offseason. Jarvis Cooper opted to transfer after rushing for 389 yards and five touchdowns on 91 carries last season.
