EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Former UNLV forward Ben Carter is joining Michigan State's basketball team for the 2016-17 season as a graduate transfer.

The Spartans announced the move Tuesday.

The 6-foot-9 Carter averaged 8.6 points and 6.0 rebounds at UNLV in 2015-16. He appeared in 22 games and made seven starts before a season-ending knee injury Jan. 30.

Carter sat out the 2014-15 season as a redshirt after transferring to UNLV from Oregon.
