DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Kevin Conway homered and Wake Forest held on to beat Virginia 10-9 on Friday at the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament.
Will Craig, Johnny Aiello, Joey Rodriguez and Nate Mondou also homered for the 10th-seeded Demon Deacons (34-24).
They improved to 1-1 in pool play and will earn a berth in the ACC championship game if they beat sixth-seeded Clemson on Saturday.
Adam Haseley had three RBIs and Daniel Pinero homered and drove in two runs for the Cavaliers (36-20).
They trailed 10-7 in the ninth before Pavin Smith doubled home Matt Thaiss, then came around to score on a groundout by Charlie Cody.
Craig then got Nate Eikhoff to ground out to end it.
Garrett Kelly (1-2) worked 1 2-3 innings of relief to earn the win. Craig earned his eighth save.
Alec Bettinger (2-5) allowed six runs on five hits for Virginia.
